The Creative Chaos

I have so many things I want to share with you about the stuff we love to create and make at our house. Since I was little I have always loved doing crafty creative things, I think it must be in the genes as my mum and sister are the same!

Over the past year I have been thinking hard about how our family can live a more sustainable and simple life, being green and you know reducing our carbon foot print thing. As well as being frugal and saving Adam's hard earned dollars for more life experiences than just things. Wouldn't you know it the crafty creative stuff just so happens to fall into all of those things.

It's all about the repurposing of the old and trying to make do with what we have, recycling and up-cycling and changing the way we think about how we live now and how we want to live in the years ahead. It's kind of exciting and lots of fun too.

So welcome to our Creative Chaos ...

My Vintage Foot Stool Revamp !!

I found two of these cool vintage foot stools at an Op shop in Nambour, loved them as soon as I spotted them. I always new I would do something with them and it only took me about 4 years :). Apparently I might be a procrastinator, teehe!

So I am pretty bodgey when it comes to doing creative things. I don't really measure things I adjust as I go! Poor mum would be horrified, haha! So I have some calico that I have just placed the stool upside down onto and cut around then hemmed on my sewing machine, at least it will be a bit neat on the underside.

I grabbed my trusty box of doilies and just pinned them where I wanted them onto the calico.

Then I have sewn the doilies on with the sewing machine, I was thinking of hand sewing them on but ahhh, nope.

One of my favourite things in the world, the trusty staple gun, best device ever!! So you can see what happen here. Fun!!

The end result, my sweet vintage foot stools. I did give them two coats of scotch guard that you spray on to protect the fabric and it makes it easier to clean them too.

I love it when I finish a project, ha, so does Ad.
